I, too, have this on vinyl in sad shape from years of playing & cannot find on CD. You say it's "not necessarily the band's best stuff," but this album actually won the Grammy Award that year! That makes it even harder to believe it's not out on CD. Such a good album. One of my all-time favorites.

Have this vinyl also since it was issued, and looks for CD since some months : it had been reissued by CBS jazzotheque collection under the reference 471 478-2, but it seems particularly difficult to find even a used item.
Would be very glad to even get a copy of the CD....
My favorite track is the arrangement of the Marian McPartland's composition called " ambiance ".
Anyway my favorite release of Thad Jones & Mel Lewis is their first record on solidstate label called " Presenting T.J&M.L orchestra ". An american friend sent me a CD copy of this record from the unavailable now reissue of Mosaic box. There is a must on it, an unissued take : " KIDS ARE REALLY PRETTY PEOPLE " : beautiful tune and uncredible fantastic arrangement !!! My favorite among all my favorites.....
Cordialement à tous...
